Hong Kong Data Ordinance Amended:

The Hong Kong Legislative Council recently passed a bill to amend the Personal Data Ordinance, which will become effective in phases starting on 12th October 2012. The changes include increased notification and consent requirements for those who sell personal data, use personal data for their own direct marketing and provide personal data to another person for their direct marketing purposes. There are also changes to the criminal penalties for obtaining personal data without consent. 

Italian TPS reaches 1 Million:

In July 2012 the Italian Telephone Robinson List surpassed 1 million subscribers. The majority of the people seeking to use the service subscribed via the Internet, with just 35% using the telephone to register. The level of subscriptions suggests that growing number of people are unhappy with being the target of telemarketing.
