CPR puts Spammers at risk of Jail - May 2008

May 2008
The Consumer Protection for Unfair Trading Regulations 2008 which came into force on 26 May, make spamming an offence which could lead to up to two years in jail.
The CPR Regulations seek to ban a range of “aggressive practices” which include making persistent and unwanted solicitations by telephone, fax, or email. It is not clear what impact the regulations will actually have on spam much of which, of course, comes from overseas and is not subject to UK law.
